Jessie G. Barfield

Jessie G. Barfield, 66, of Blountstown, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009, in Marianna.
Mrs. Barfield was born in Cottondale, Florida, and lived most of her life in Calhoun County. She was a homemaker and was of the Nazarene faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Barfield.
Survivors include two brothers, Clayton Boutwell and his wife, Pam, of Marianna, and Norman Boutwell and his wife, Katherine, of Grand Ridge; and a sister, Joy Boutwell, and her significant other, Richard Hinson, of Blountstown.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. today, Wednesday, July 1, in the Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ernest Gray officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Memorial Cemetery in Blountstown. The family will receive friends from 9 – 10 am Wednesday. Contributions can be made to the Marianna Church of the Nazarene or your favorite charity.

SUSIE INEZ DAVIS

Mrs. Susie Inez Davis, 89, of Blountstown, Fla., passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009, at her home.
Inez was born on September 2, 1919, in Calhoun County and had lived here all of her life. She was a 1937 graduate of Altha High School and received her teacher’s certificate from Florida State College For Woman (FSU) in 1939. Mrs. Davis taught school in Altha and Frink for a short period of time. She worked in the shipyard in Panama City during WWII. She was secretary for the Public Defender’s office in Blountstown for over seven years and worked with the State of Florida as a social worker for over 16 years. Inez was a member of the Blountstown Chapter 179 Order of the Eastern Star for over 45 years, serving several stations including Past Worthy Matron. She was a member of the Altha Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, John Davis and his wife, Ruth, of Crestview, and Robert Davis and his wife, Linda, of Blountstown; two brothers, Theron Shiver and his wife, Bea, of Charleston, SC, and Oliver Shiver and his wife, Eloise, of Chattahoochee; one sister, Jess Doyal, of Blountstown; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 30, at 11:00 a.m. (CT) at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Willie Dawson officiating. Interment followed in the Nettle Ridge Cemetery in Blountstown. Visitation was held Monday, June 29th from 6-8 p.m. at Peavy Funeral Home with Eastern Star services following.

CHARLES CLAUDE ALVIN GOODWIN

Mr. Charles Claude Alvin Goodwin, 78, of Altha, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Goodwin was born in Hastings, FL, on April 1, 1931, and had lived in Calhoun County for the past 11 years. Charles was a retired security guard at Lawnwood Medical Center. Mr. Goodwin was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the United States Air Force. He was of the Protestant faith.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Magdalene Lewis Goodwin, and a son, Stephen Barber.
Survivors include his daughter, Dianna Tissue, and her husband, Ronald, of Blountstown; one sister, Beatrice Storrey, of Pembroke Pines; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

JOHNNIE MAE McCOLLUM

Mrs. Johnnie Mae McCollum, 71, of Blountstown, FL, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009, in Panama City, FL.
Mrs. McCollum was born on April 10, 1938, in Calhoun County and lived here all of her life. Johnnie worked at Bill’s Dollar Store in Blountstown for over 15 years. She was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel M. McCollum and his wife, Lisa, and Gary R. McCollum and his wife, Stephanie, all of of Milledgeville, GA; one daughter, Marissa McCollum Drew, of Milledgeville, GA; one brother, James Bryant, of Colorado; one sister, Vickie Drussell, of Tallahassee, FL; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 27, at 3 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Blountstown with Rev. Shelton Kindig officiating. Interment followed in the Nettle Ridge Cemetery in Blountstown.

Ervin Robert Shiver
Ervin Robert Shiver, 67, of Bristol, Florida, passed away Monday, June 22, 2009, in Bristol.
Mr. Shiver lived in Bristol for 35 years and was a logger.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earnest Roy Shiver and John Mercer, and two sisters, Evie Bell Mullins and Melissa White.
He is survived by five sons, Robert Shiver of Jacksonville, Florida, John Ervin Shiver of Blountstown, Florida, Bobby Lynn Shiver of Bristol, Randy Shiver of Blountstown, and William Booth of Bristol; two brothers, E. J. Shiver of Sanford, Florida, and Gene Mercer of Bristol; three sisters, Edith Mercer of Bristol, Lois Mercer of Blountstown, and Shirley Smith of Panama City, Florida; four grandchildren, Brittney Lean Shiver, Jessie Lee Griffin, Consuela Cheyene Shiver, and William Christopher Booth.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 26, in the Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Bristol with Reverend Victor Walsh officiating.

Jeanette Paul, 78, of Bonifay, Florida, passed away Friday, June 26, 2009, in Bonifay.
Mrs. Paul was born in Altha, Florida, and lived here for many years before moving to Bonifay.
She is survived by three brothers, Charles O’Bryan and his wife, Martha, of Tallahassee, Byron O’Bryan of Augusta, Georgia, and Brinson O’Bryan and his wife, Louise, of Augusta, Georgia; a sister, Elsie, and her husband, Jimmy; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 5:00 PM Saturday, June 27, at the Sunny Hill Cemetery near Altha.

Jose Luis Cruz Ramirez

Jose Luis Cruz Ramirez, 18, of Blountstown, passed away in Blountstown Saturday, June 27, 2009.
He was born in Santa Maria Huatulco, Mexico, and lived in Blountstown for several years where he worked as a pine straw bailer.
He is survived by his parents, Policarpo Cruz Garcia and Paul Ramirez Lopez, and his brother, Esteban Librado Santos Ramirez.
