A routine traffic stop Thursday afternoon ended in the arrest of a Blountstown man suspected of dealing in drugs.

Antonio Dejuan Ziggler, 31, has been charged with possession of marijuana, cocaine, and ecstacy with intent to sell, along with aggravated fleeing and eluding.

According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Dep. Eddie Dalton attempted to pull Ziggler over for speeding on SR 71, but Ziggler sped up. Dep. Dalton turned on his siren and Ziggler made a sudden turn into Hidden Creek Trailer Park, reaching speeds of over 55 mph in the park where children were outside. Ziggler eventually stopped and fled on foot, but Dep. Dalton caught up with him and noticed he was holding a purple bag. After Ziggler failed to respond to commands to stop, Dep. Dalton deployed his M26 Taser, stunning Ziggler in the lower back. Ziggler was then placed in handcuffs.

A search of the purple Crown Royal bag Ziggler was holding revealed one 12 gram and two 14 gram bags of marijuana, along with an 8 gram bag of powder cocaine and 13 ecstacy pills. Another 14 gram bag of marijuana was found in Ziggler’s front pants pocket.

Ziggler was booked into the Calhoun County Jail and remained in custody at press time.
