Nellie Nichols Sewell passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 18, 2010, in Clarksville at the age of 91, surrounded by her family with the support of Covenant Hospice.

She was the daughter of the late Arthur Nichols and Idell Newsome Nichols. She was a devout Christian, avid reader and loving mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Nellie was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Sewell, and two sons, Terry Arthur Sewell and Warren "Buddy" Sewell.

Survivors include one son, Martin Sewell; two daughters, Kay Coppock, and son-in-law, David, of Clarksville, and Kathy Sewell Holzer; one brother, John Marvin Nichols, and his wife, Mary, of Clarksville; one sister, Lucille Whittaker McCoy, and her husband, Robert, of Clarksville; four granddaughters, Donna Coppock Johnson, Regina Coppock, Rebekah Coppock Roy, and Lana Sewell Williams; two grandsons, Doug Sewell and Timmy Hall Coppock; six great-grandchildren; a host of nieces including Debbie Whittaker Peavy, with whom she shared her passion for reading; and several nephews, cousins, and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 4440 Lafayette Street, Marianna, FL 32446.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Mar. 21, at 2 p.m. CDT at the Page Pond Assembly of God Church in Altha with Rev. Glen Dunham officiating. Interment followed in the New Shiloh Cemetery in Altha.

All arrangements were under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown (ph. 850-674-2266).
