The team of (from left) CaCI Ofc. Kevin Barton, BPD Maj. Rodney Smith, BPD Sgt. Fred Tanner, and CaCI Sgt. Andy Millard, along with K-9 Bud, returned from the National Manhunt Competition in Little Rock, Arkansas, last week with the first place championship title.
All the men were off-duty and went on their own vehicles to the event, even selling ribs at a cookout to raise money for the trip.
Following mile and a half long paths through mountain terrain and trailing two hour old tracks, the team beat their closest competition by four minutes. During the trip, they joined a real search when a juvenile prisoner on an Army base escaped.
They also had quite an experience one night when a storm broke out and they spotted two tornadoes!
