Mrs. Joyce Gwendolyn Fairchild, 78, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, in Bristol, Florida.

The service will be at 4:00 P.M. EST today, March 10, 2010, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bristol, with burial at Mitchum Cemetery.

Joyce was a native of the Chaires Community in Leon County but was a lifelong resident of Liberty County. She was a educator for over 42 years in the Liberty County school system and had taught in every school in the district. She graduated from Florida State University in 1955 and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John Eben Fairchild of Bristol; a son John David Rowan of Bristol; two daughter, Jana Hill and husband, Robert of Bristol and Johnette Wahlquist and husband, Michael of Bristol; her grandchildren, Page Wahlquist, Ashley Crowley, Rachel Rowan, Kaylynn Richardson and Clint Hill; a special family member, Raymond Bousquet; and a loving caregiver, Jimmie L. Davis.

She was preceded in death by her father, James L. Wood, and mother, Mattie O. Evans, and her two brothers Dewey T. Wood and Larry W. Wood.

Bevis Funeral Home and Crematory in Bristol, FL was in charge of the funeral arrangements. 850-643-3636.
