Five Weightlifters Qualify for State Meet

Five members of Altha School’s girls’ weightlifting team will be heading for state finals on Feb.13. The meet will take place in New Port Richey at River Ridge High School.

KK Beauchamp, Serena Bradford, Haley Chason, Elizabeth Gratz, and Christina Watson all qualified for the state meet.

KK is a senior in the 129 lb. weight class and she was second in her section. Her bench weight is 135 lbs. and her clean and jerk is also 135 lbs. for a total 270 lbs. This is KK's 3rd year as a qualifier for state.

Serena is a freshman in the 154 lb. weight class, and she was second in her section. Her bench is 160 lbs. and her clean and jerk is 145 lbs. Her total is 305 lbs. Serena is a 3 year qualifier and she also finished in 8th place in last year’s state meet.

Haley is a freshman in the 169 lb. weight class, and she was second in her section. Her bench is 135 lbs. with a clean and jerk of 125 lbs. Her total is 260 lbs. This is the Haley’s first year at the state meet.

Elizabeth is a junior in the 199 lb. weight class and she was the Section 2 champion. Her bench is 135 lbs. and her clean and jerk is 125 lbs. for a total of 260 lbs. Elizabeth has qualified for the state meet for two years.

Christina is a freshman in the unlimited class and she finished 3rd in her class. She has a 155 lb. bench and 115 lb. clean and jerk. Her total is 270 lbs. Christina is a first time qualifier.
