The Blountstown Tigers looked anything but girlie in their pink uniforms Friday night when they shutout Bozeman, 75-47.

Raising awareness and support for cancer was the theme for the “Hoops for Hope” night, prompting the Tigers to wear pink in honor of those battling breast cancer. The Tigers came out ready to impress the packed gym.

“Our starters didn’t even play the fourth quarter,” says Coach Tony Davis. “We definitely didn’t run the score up, but one thing people don’t realize is, we have so many teams in our district, if it comes down to a tie breaker, they base it on number of points you defeated the team by.”

Ryan McIntyre led BHS in scoring with 14 points, followed by Leon Broxton with 13. Cavon Cox brought in 10 and P.J. Buggs added nine. Elijah Corker had six, Nick Martin and Steve Jones each had five, and Mai Jackson chipped in four.

Cox led the Tigers in rebounds with eight, followed by Broxton with seven. Paul Mosley offered six assists.

“We’re playing pretty good right now,” Coach Davis remarks, adding that the Tigers are tied for third in the district with several more district games to play, including three this week. “I’m just proud of the kids. They’re working hard and playing hard. We’re finally learning to gel.”

The Tigers host Graceville Thursday at 5:30, then travel to Sneads Friday with girls playing at 4:30 p.m., JV boys at 6 p.m. and varsity at 7:30.
