When the Calhoun County EMS received a grant recently, they decided to share their blessings with local volunteer firefighters.

The state grant, funded with dollars from traffic tickets issued in Calhoun County, allowed the EMS to purchase oxygen bags for each of the nine volunteer fire departments and stock them with cylinders, masks, and all the supplies they need. “Now when first responders go to medical calls for us, they can start oxygen therapy if needed,” says Brad Owens, a paramedic with Calhoun County EMS. Pictured above are (from left) Doug Harrell (West Side VFD Chief), Brad Owens (paramedic), Randie Lykins (Carr-Clarksville VFD Asst. Chief and Calhoun Co. Firefighters Association President), Darryl O’Bryan (Carr-Clarksville VFD Chief), Bill Brehm (Nettle Ridge VFD Chief), Troy Bishop (Nettle Ridge VFD Asst. Chief), Phillip Hill (EMS Director), Doyle Daniels (Kinard VFD Chief), Brian Mercer (Altha VFD Asst.Chief), Buffalo Bill Truax (Mossy Pond VFD Chief), Diane Rhodes (Scotts Ferry VFD Asst. Chief), Aaron Carter (EMS supervisor), and Ben Hall (Blountstown Fire Chief).
