This week, we are featuring the Support Staff from BHS. This position is particularly significant and very important to our school family. There are five brave, spirited, and energetic women who wear this title everyday at school.
Most likely the first support staff person you meet would be Mrs. Brenda Burnsed, the front office receptionist. She has bravely and successfully filled this position for 3 years! We are all thankful for our valiant Brenda who wears a smile while working under the pressure that only the front office produces! She is married to Roy Burnsed and they have two children, Stacy Burnsed Kilgore, and the late Roy Burnsed. Mrs. Burnsed graduated from Jupiter High School, in Jupiter, Florida. Going to the beach, hunting and spending time with her two granddaughters are what she enjoys on her days off. Without hesitation, Mrs. Burnsed stated, “I’m so grateful to have my job at BHS and work with such a wonderful group of people. Life is good!”
Next, just down the hall is Mrs. Jeannie Peacock, the school secretary, who can be found, tucked away in her headquarters, faithfully working. After graduating from Altha High School, she started work at BHS in 1988 as the Data Entry Clerk then in 1994 she answered the call for secretary. The BHS family has watched with delight Mrs. Peacock’s family grow. She married Keith Peacock a year after she started her job and has had three children, Kristen, Tanner, and Trent since. She takes pleasure in watching her children play school sports and hunting with them. She also loves to float down the Chipola River in the hot summer months or go shopping with the twin sister Jeanette. She appreciates the faculty and staff at BHS, “They are easy to work with and they are good to me. I know my job is God given and I am very thankful and blessed to be at Blountstown High!”
In the Guidance office you will come across two more Support Staff employees. Guidance Counselor Sandra Waller has a determined and kindhearted staff. Mrs. Shirley Daniels has bee our loyal Data Entry Clerk for 15 years and getting to know all of the students is not only her favorite part of her job but absolutely the most indispensable part of her job. Mrs. Daniels graduated from Rutherford High in Panama City, Florida. She is married to Harold Daniels and they have a son Joseph Daniels. Reading and cooking are her hobbies; her famous poppy seed chicken casserole has graced the tables at BHS. Mrs. Daniels agrees that BHS is a great place to work!
In addition, Marilyn Vincent is the Guidance Aide. Students can always find her door open for advice, counseling, or just a quick talk. She has been with BHS for 6 years and loves being a part of the BHS family, “It feels great to come back to school after these years.” (BHS is Mrs. Vincent’s alumni.) “It’s enjoyable to work and be around different students everyday and know that I may make a difference in their lives!” Mrs. Vincent is married to Terry Vincent and they have two children; Matt and Taylor. She enjoys scrap booking, shopping, spending time with her children, and especially cooking and entertaining family and friends!
Finally, in the Media Center, is Mrs. Carmen Overholt, the Media Aide. She has been with BHS for 6 years which include three of those years as Cheerleader Sponsor. Her creativity and the ability to do any task makes her an indispensable member of the BHS family. She is married to Titus Overholt and they have one son Titus Overholt, II. Mrs. Overholt was home schooled during her high school years and graduated from American Schools. She loves to read, especially on the beach, go boating on the river, and working on creative projects with her sisters. Through the years, she has been able to be at school with her son, five nieces, and nephew and she truly believes that BHS is a great place in our community!
BHS appreciates the Support Staff and would like to wish them a Happy New Year!
