I want to introduce to you Mrs. Vicki Bennett from Blountstown High School. Born in Marianna, she has lived in Blountstown her entire life and attended BHS. After graduating in 1977, she attended Chipola Junior College (now changed to Chipola College) for two years and then attended FSU. She has an Associates of Arts degree from Chipola and a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from FSU. She taught at Blountstown Elementary School for 24 years and is presently a Reading Coach at BHS. She has been at BHS for four years and has been in teaching for a total of 28 years.

In my interview with Mrs. Bennett, I questioned her on a list of “Favorites”. Her favorite high school team is the Blountstown Tigers and her favorite college teams are FSU and Alabama. Her favorite color is blue and she enjoys listening to all kinds of music from all decades on her iPod. She loves veggie pizza, lemon pie and most of all seafood. She enjoys eating grilled bay shrimp at Captain Anderson’s Restaurant on Panama City Beach. Her favorite animals are rabbit because they are cute and shopping is her favorite pastime. (I love her style!) Last on my list of “Favorites” was what your favorite book is and her number one choice is The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway. She chose this book because she was inspired by a trip to Key West where she actually visited Hemingway’s house.

Mrs. Bennett’s husband is Carl Bennett. They were married in 1993 on the beautiful island of Jamaica. How exotic! She has three children, Misty, Lauren, and Andrew, plus her son in-law Kyle married to Lauren. She also has three grandchildren: Ella, Hudson, and Cayson. Her only pet is a dog. He is a miniature dachshund and his name is Buddy. Mrs. Bennett says “My family keeps me very busy especially my son and my grandchildren. My family keeps growing. We have nine total now!”

When she retires she would like to travel more and visit interesting places in the U.S. and around the world. However, until then, Mrs. Bennett will continue to teach Reading, eat seafood, and cheer for the Blountstown Tigers.
