An Altha mom and her live-in boyfriend have been arrested as her two-year-old daughter clings to life at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
Jessica Leigh Dziura, 26, and Stephen Aaron Young, 27, have both been charged with child neglect with bodily harm. Additional charges may be added today.
According to the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office, the investigation began Thursday after a a call was received concerning an unresponsive baby who was not breathing. The mother was enroute to Blountstown from Altha with the child and realized she was unresponsive. She stopped at a gas station at the intersection of Hwy. 275 and 71. CPR was attempted. The toddler was transported by EMS to Calhoun Liberty Hospital and then life flighted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital where she is on life support.
