Mrs. Marie Fuqua, 81, of Blountstown, FL, passed away Monday, February 02, 2015, in Blountstown.

Marie was born on February 15, 1933, in Brewton, AL, and had lived in Calhoun County since 1959, coming from Brewton. Marie was a Middle School Guidance Counselor with the Calhoun County School System with 40 years of service. She was of the Protestant faith.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Florence (Trawick) Blackmon; her husband, Edgar Fuqua; brother, Eddie Blackmon; and sister, Genevieve Godwin.

Survivors include two daughters, Wanda (Fuqua) Day and her husband, Larry, of Panama City, FL, and Freida (Fuqua) Ritter and her husband, John, of Bristol, FL; one brother, Earl D. Blackmon, of Baytown, TX; one sister, Johnnie McCall, of Brewton, AL; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, February 6, at 11:00 am (CST) at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Terry Blackburn officiating. Interment followed in Pine Memorial Cemetery in Blountstown.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Calhoun County Take Stock in Children Scholarship Fund c/o Calhoun County School Board, 20859 East Central Ave. Room G-20, Blountstown, FL 32424.

All arrangements were under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown (ph. 674-2266).
