Mrs. Mozelle Gates, 71, of Blountstown, passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at her home.

Mozelle was born Oct. 19, 1938, in Calhoun County and had lived here most of her life. She was a retired registered nurse, working at Calhoun General Hospital and as Director of Nursing at Landmark Health Care in Blountstown. She was owner and operator of Mozelle’s Liquors in Blountstown and was an avid Florida Gator fan. Mozelle attended the Victory Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church near Altha.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mary and Carlos Whitfield; her husband, Ernie Hall, Sr.; a brother, Alton Curlee; a sister, Willie Mae Lollie; and a grandson, William Hall.

Survivors include two sons, Phillip Hall and his wife, Rosario, of Blountstown, and Ernie Hall, Jr. of Jacksonville; four brothers, Harmon Whitfield and his wife, Wanda, of Altha, Jimmy Whitfield and his wife, Ann, of Blountstown, James Earl Whitfield and his wife, Linda, of Altha, and Wayne Whitfield of Altha; one sister, Carolyn Peak, and her husband, Jerry, of Port St. Joe; and three grandsons, Jacob Hall, Brian Hall, and Carlos Hall.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 2, at 3 p.m. at the Peavy Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Dewayne Tolbert and Rev. Billy Wallace officiating. Interment followed in the Victory Hill Cemetery.
All arrangements were under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown (ph. 674-2266).
