Mr. Clarence Karnell Simmons passed away October 24, 2009, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
Clarence attended Blountstown High School. He was baptized as a child at St. Paul A.M.E. Church.
He was employed at Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles for 20 years and Florida State Hospital for five years.
Being the oldest of six children, Clarence was the pride and joy of his father, Clarence Simmons, of Ft. Myers, and his mother, Maggie Louise Baker Simmons, of Blountstown. He was often the leader and guide to his brothers and sisters. Brothers, Thaddeus Simmons (Karene), Donnie Donaldson (Devorah), Williams Simmons (Simone) of Blountstown, Terrance Simmons and Michael Mosley of Fort Myers; sisters, Cheryl Simmons and Gigi Mosley, of Blountstown, Sophia Thomas (Edward) of Patterson, LA, Kimberly Goins-Simmons, Gwennette Simmons, Gail Simmons and Carla Simmons of Fort Myers, and Cherie Mosley of Orlando.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 31, at St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Blountstown. Right Rev. McKinley Young, Rev. George T. Barkley and Rev. Calvin Griffin officiated. Interment followed in Magnolia Cemetery, Blountstown.
