Dr. Anna Blanding Baker, 96, of Blountstown, Florida, transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on Thursday, February 20, 2014, in Blountstown Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Dr. Baker was a member of the Saint Mary Missionary Baptist Church in Blountstown. She was a retired educator with the Calhoun County Public Schools.
Homegoing Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, March 1, at 12:00 Noon CST from the sanctuary of the Saint Mary Missionary Baptist Church located at 16345 Southeast River Street, Blountstown, with the Reverend Dr. C.L. Wilson pastor/teacher officiating. Interment will be in the Magnolia Cemetery in Blountstown. Vann Funeral Home in charge.
Dr. Baker will lie in repose at the church from 11:00 AM until time for the service.
The family will receive friends at Saint Mary Missionary Baptist Church on Friday, February 28, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM CST.
Dr. Baker leaves to cherish a lifetime of fond memories, a loving family including two sons, Freeman Baker (Juliet) of Atlanta, GA, and Francis Baker (Kathryn) of Blountstown; three daughters, Rhonda Yon, Jacqueline Baker-White (Ben), and Akwete Baker-Jackson (Chris) of Blountstown; five stepchildren, Rebecca Gillings, Larzetta Southern, Ruth Lawrence, and James Baker, all of Melbourne, Florida, and Cecil Baker of Winter Haven, Florida; eight grandchildren, Andrae Garrett (Rochelle) of Texas, Pamela Baker of California, Tara Baker of Atlanta, Georgia, Nikkia White, Bryson White, Ben White, Jr., Arthur Jackson, Chris Jackson, Jr., and Mildred Jackson, all of Blountstown, and Emile Yon of Atlanta, Georgia; a special cousin, Mrs. Loretha Baker Jones of Blountstown; several great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
