A Calhoun County man was arrested Sunday after a homeowner discovered him passed out on her sofa.
James William Cobb, 31, of Blountstown, has been charged with burglary, criminal mischief and battery on a law enforcement officer.
According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Dep. McCorvey and Dep. Scott Norris responded to a suspicious person complaint on Chipola Road. They found a man they recognized to be Cobb on a couch. The homeowner had just returned from an out of state trip and discovered him there, then called authorities.
A hole was found in the wall above where Cobb had been sleeping.
Cobb reportedly had difficulty speaking and standing, appearing extremely intoxicated. While placing him in the patrol car, Cobb allegedly began cursing and spitting at the deputies, with saliva hitting Norris.
