Calhoun County will be brimming with holiday festivities this weekend as the Christmas season officially gets underway! Here’s the lowdown on all the happenings:
Tree Lighting, the City of Blountstown will light the tree on Magnolia Square Friday night, Dec. 6, at 5:15 p.m. with Christmas carols.
Breakfast with Santa, Saturday, Dec. 7, beginning at 7 a.m., Pioneer Settlement Clubhouse inside Sam Atkins Park. The pancake and sausage breakfast, complete with juice and coffee, is available for a donation of $5 for adults; $3 for children.
Christmas on the Square, Saturday, Dec. 7, Magnolia Square Park, downtown Blountstown, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. (food vendors urged to stay until after the parade at 5 p.m.) Booth spaces are available for artists, crafters, collectible dealers and food vendors. Cost is only $25 per 12’ x 12’ space with electricity and $20 without power. Call Lana Weeks at 674-4638 or 850-693-0513 to reserve a booth space. If you would like to be an entertainer at the event, call Margie Mason at 674-8610. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on site at 10 a.m. You can take your own photos or have one taken by the event photographer.
Altha Christmas Parade, Saturday, Dec. 7, at 1 p.m., Main Street, Altha. Lineup at 12:30 p.m. (see page 11 for more details).
Blountstown Christmas Parade, Saturday, Dec. 7, at 5 p.m., downtown Blountstown (see page 11 for more details).
Old fashioned Christmas at the Pioneer Settlement following the Blountstown parade. Candlelight tours of the cabins, treats, marshmallow roast, caroling and hayrides. The entry donation is $3 for adults; $2 for ages 6 to 12; and free for ages 5 and under.
