Mr. Robert J. Flanders, 82, of Altha, FL, passed away early Thursday morning, October 17, 2013, in Blountstown, FL.
Robert was born on December 5, 1930, in Calhoun County and had lived here all of his life. He was retired from the US Forrest Services with 24 years of service. Robert served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. Robert also worked at Tatum Hardware for several years. He was a member of Page Pond Assembly of God Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nita M. Flanders.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen Jeffery Flanders and his wife, Linda, of Altha, and Richard L. Flanders and his wife, Dianne, of Altha; one daughter, Kay Johnson, and her husband, Walker, of Port Orange, FL; one brother, Dennis Shelton, of Plant City, FL; three sisters, Roberta Slay Mobile, AL, Melva Griffin of Plant City, FL, Artie Leonard of Jacksonville, FL; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 19, at 11 am at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim McIntosh officiating. Interment followed in New Shiloh Cemetery in Altha. All arrangements were under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown (ph. 674-2266).
