“Norval” Dean Tyre, 73, of Blountstown, Florida, passed away Friday, October 11, 2013, at his home after an extended illness.
He was born in River Junction in Chattahoochee, Florida, February 11, 1940, to the late Lewis Wingate and Mary Pearl (Waldroff) Tyre. “Norval” served in the United States Air Force for six years and he retired from the Florida Department of Corrections in 1990. He was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Blountstown.
Preceding him in death other than his parents were his brother, Aaron Tyre; brother-in-law, Roger Pierson; nephews, Robert P. Carpenter, Jr. and Phillip Aaron Tyre; and a niece, Patricia Kaye Coley.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Marion (Gold) Tyre; a son, Loran Dean Tyre; daughter, Grace Lynnette Tyre; granddaughter, Jessica Renee Metcalf, all of Blountstown; two brothers, Bobby Tyre and wife, Linda, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Larry Tyre and wife, Paula, of Kewadin, Michigan/Sarasota, Florida; three sisters, Marilyn Pierson of Marianna, Florida, Erma Coley also of Marianna, and Beverly Singer and husband, Dr. Robert, of Gainesville, Florida; a host of nieces and nephews; his beloved dogs, Boudreaux, Benji and Annabelle; and cat, Curious.
The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 16, at Adams Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, October 17, at First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Blountstown with Reverend David Goodman and Reverend Larry Broome officiating. Interment will follow in Sunny Hill Cemetery in Altha with military honors.
