Still no word on when Governor Rick Scott is planning to appoint a permanent replacement for recently-suspended Liberty County School Superintendent Gloria Gay Uzzell. However, six locals have put their names in the hat to be considered for the appointment.
Gov. Scott’s office reports applicants as of Tuesday morning include Anthony “Tony” Anderson, Virgilla “Jill” Davis, Kathy Nobles, Donald “Donnie” Read, Greg Solomon, and Jack Summers.
Nobles is serving as acting superintendent.
As previously reported, Uzzell was suspended following her arrest for one count of grand theft, one count of official misconduct and one count of failing to disclose information in a public records request. She has pled not guilty and is due in court Sept. 9. A trial date has not yet been set.
