HOBY Award
On May 16th, BHS sophomores, Eric Jones and Karis Smith represented Blountstown High School at the Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar in Tallahassee, Florida. Each year, over 70 sophomores from Pensacola to Jacksonville gather there to learn to be outstanding leaders in their schools and communities. This year, Eric Jones was chosen to represent North Florida HOBY at the international HOBY, the World Leadership Congress. In July Eric will travel to Washington, D.C. where he will tour the sites and attend the HOBY conference.
In addition, BHS also represented North Florida last year for the international HOBY. Laura Stoltzfus was selected in 2008 and she also took a trip to Washington, D.C. This year, Laura attended the 2009 HOBY Leadership Seminar in Tallahassee as a HOBY state and WLA alum and volunteer.
BHS has been the North Florida HOBY representative for two years in a row! Congratulations to these students!
