Two alleged thieves accused of stealing from a Calhoun County senior citizen are behind bars in Jackson County.
Charles Allen Stewart, Jr., 22, of Lakeland, and Danielle Marie Renna, 27, of Clarksville, have both been charged with grand theft from a person 65 years of age or older. Stewart was also held on a worthless checks warrant out of Polk County.
According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, a homeowner contacted authorities Saturday after discovering items valued at approximately $10,000 were missing from his house. The investigation led to Stewart and Renna who had been spotted at the Fairfield Inn in Marianna behaving suspiciously. A tipster indicated the couple was possibly selling large amounts of gold, silver and antiques from the hotel.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office assisted, taking the pair into custody. A two-year-old child with the couple was turned over to the Florida Department of Children and Families.
Some of the items stolen from the Calhoun County home have been recovered.
The pair are being held in the Jackson County Correctional Facility awaiting transfer to the Calhoun County Jail.
