The Tigers got off to a hot start the first regular week of the season by collecting two wins.

In the first game, the Tigers traveled to Altha to take on a tough Wildcat squad. The Tigers came away with a 6-0 victory. The Tigers were led offensively by Tanner Peacock who was 1-2 with a double, Taylor Wood was 1-3 with a triple and Taylor Mauck was 1-3 with a double.

Colby Mullins started the game on the mound, going 2 innings and not allowing a hit while striking out 3. Wood picked up the win in relief, pitching 4 innings, allowing 1 hit and striking out 7. Ridge Dietz pitched a scoreless seventh inning and recorded 2 strikeouts.

On Friday night, the Tigers hosted Chipley and came away with a 10-6 victory. The Tigers of Chipley struck first by scoring 5 runs and taking a 5-0 lead before the Tigers of Blountstown bats came alive. In the fourth inning, Taylor Wood and Hunter Jordan each hit two-run home runs and Tanner Peacock added another RBI to tie the game. The Tigers also plated 3 more runs in the 5th and 2 runs in the 6th to secure the win.

Wood was 2-2 on the night while Jordan went 3-4, and Derek Eberly was 2-3 with a double to lead the offensive attack. Taylor Mauck picked up the win in relief of Jordan.

The J.V. tigers ended in a 2-2 tie with Wewa and a 17-1 win over Tallavana Christian on Tuesday in a doubleheader. The J.V. squad also defeated Chipley on Friday by a score of 10-1.

The varsity Tigers traveled to South Walton on Tuesday (details unavailable at press time) and will host Port St. Joe on Friday. Game time is 4 p.m. for JV and 6 p.m. for varsity.
