Calhoun County residents working until 5 p.m., as well as those with an afternoon commute back home, will likely be pleased to learn the County Commission has voted 3-2 to change regular board meetings to 6 p.m.
Meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month. In the past, the first meeting was at 2 p.m. and the second session of the month was at 5 p.m.
Commissioners Thomas Flowers, Lee Lee Brown and Lee Shelton voted in favor of the new time, with Darrell McDougald and Truman Grant opposed.
“The 2:00 and 5:00 meeting times have been in place for 30 years,” Commissioner Grant remarks.
The next board meeting is Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 6 p.m.
