Mrs. Ruby Faye Freeman, 79, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at her home in Altha, Florida.
Ruby was born on December 3, 1933 in Santa Rosa County, Jay, Florida to the late Walter Stanley Johnson and Nancy Mae Rowell Johnson.
She married Kermit Paul Freeman on December 19, 1953 in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois. They worked and raised their daughters, Rhonda Lora Freeman Lockhart and Sandra Lynne Freeman in Illinois. The family moved to Bristol, Florida in 1974 and then to Calhoun County in 1980.
Ruby loved her family deeply and had a true passion for fishing, she spent many happy years living on her houseboat which she had moored at the Blountstown Marina and fishing was a way of life for her.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kermit Paul Freeman, a sister, Alma Lora Lindsey and a brother, Stanley (Catfish) Johnson.
Ruby is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Lockhart of Bainbridge, Georgia and Sandra (Sandy) Freeman of Altha, Florida, a sister, Ruthie J. Martin of Carrabelle, Florida, a brother William (Bill) Johnson (Sheila) of Jay, Florida, two grandchildren, Christina Mae Lockhart of Liberty, Texas and SFC Shannon Paul Corbin (Heather) of Springfield, Tennessee, two great grandchildren, Gage Freeman Bridges and Loran Lynne Lockhart of Liberty, Texas, two step great grandsons, Andrew Spelta and Jacob Mitchell of Springfield, Tennessee as well as a host of nieces and nephews, two ex- son in laws, Richard Dale Shiver and Charles Samuel Bailey and three very dear friends, Wellene Coxwell, JB Musgrove and Polly Yates.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 9, at 11am CST at Chipola Community Church 16555 NE Jim Godwin Rd, Blountstown, Florida. Chaplin Ronnie Wright will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chipola Community Church in memory of Ruby Faye Freeman.
