Two out of three ain’t bad for the Blountstown Lady Tigers as they chalked up two district wins last week and were defeated by non-district opponent Marianna in a close match.
First up was the Lady Bulldogs from Marianna Monday with a score of 24-26, 25-15, 25-15, 13-25, 10-15.
Leading the way for the Lady Tigers were Brittany Griffin with an ace, seven assists, and seven kills; Selena Williams with two aces, seven assists, and two kills; Shaterial Davis with two aces, one assist, and three kills; Sierra Chason with four aces; Erin Fowler with three aces; Audrey Eubanks with two aces and a kill; Sasha Simmons and Chelsea Baker with three kills a piece; and Lindsey Doyal with two kills.
Graceville came calling on Tuesday and the Lady Tigers brought in a big district win, 25-12, 25-7, 25-15.
Griffin provided four aces, four assists, and nine kills. Williams chalked up six aces, seven assists, and one kill. Eubanks offered three aces, two assists, and a kill. Junicia Baker contributed three aces and one dig. Chason added a pair of aces. Davis had three kills and Simmons had two, while Chelsea Baker and Tasheana Brown had one kill each. Fowler added a dig.
The team was on the road to Cottondale Thursday. “We had some sick girls, but we still won,” says Coach Tanya Durham. The score was 21-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-20.
Griffin provided one ace, one block, seven assists, and 12 kills. Simmons pulled down 11 kills. Williams had two aces, one block, 15 assists, and three kills. Davis offered three aces, one block, and four kills. Eubanks contributed two aces, one block, two assists, and two kills. Fowler had one ace and three digs. Junicia Baker had four aces and a dig. Chelsea Baker had two blocks and three kills.
The Lady Tigers took on Liberty County Monday and Bozeman on Tuesday (details unavailable at press time). They travel to Vernon on Thursday and Altha on Monday with game time at 5 p.m.
