A Cottondale woman who allegedly stripped off her pants in the Dollar General parking lot in Altha, then snatched a purse from another customer’s vehicle was arrested Saturday night.
Cynthia Gayle Keiser, 34, has been charged with burglary, indecent exposure and disorderly intoxication.
According to the Altha Police Department, Chief Jimmy Baggett responded to the store just before 8 p.m. in response to a report of a naked woman in the parking lot. Keiser was found walking toward a holding pond, then tossed some papers into some bushes. She then returned to a van occupied by two men.
Baggett questioned Keiser about the papers and she said they were trash. When Chief Baggett retrieved the papers, he found the name of an Altha resident on the documents. Keiser said she didn’t know how she came to have the papers and Chief Baggett noticed she smelled of alcohol. As the woman moved a jacket in the van to retrieve her identification, Chief Baggett spotted the driver’s license belonging to the Altha woman named on the papers.
Chief Baggett called the woman named on the license and documents and learned her purse was missing from her vehicle. The woman and her husband came to the store and reported they had been there earlier and observed Keiser sitting naked from the waist down in the parking lot. Keiser reportedly made a couple comments to the woman’s husband and he entered the store with his wife.
Keiser was taken into custody. Jason Fonsen, 32, one of the men with Keiser, told Chief Baggett, “I need to go to jail, too.” He was subsequently booked for being a principle in the first degree to burglary.
Keiser was booked into the Calhoun County Jail and given a conditional release. Fonsen was held on a $2500 bond.
