Drug Busts In Both Counties
Authorities on both sides of the river have been busy over the past week with several drug arrests.
Over in Bristol Thursday, investigators from the Liberty/Calhoun Drug Task Force netted two arrests in what is being described as one of the largest cocaine busts in this area.
Randall Pitts, 48, and Tracie Marie Huff, 34, have been charged with manufacture of crack cocaine, trafficking in cocaine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, cultivation of marijuana, possession of prescription drugs without a prescription, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to a press release from Liberty County Sheriff Donnie Conyers, the operation was conducted at a private residence at 10870 NW Garden of Eden Road in Bristol. Illegal drugs seized at the scene included approximately 150 crack cocaine rocks, 1.5 ounces of powder cocaine, 155 grams of marijuana, 10.7 grams of meth, one marijuana plant, and 37 prescription Naproxen pills. The street value of the seized drugs is estimated between $6000 to $7000.
“This was an important operation and part of our continuing crackdown on illegal drugs in Liberty County,” Sheriff Conyers remarks.
Participating in the operation were Sheriff Conyers, Inv. Todd Wheetley, Inv. Brian Bateman, and Lt. James Lowrey of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, Chief Glenn Kimbrel and Ofc. Timothy Partridge of the Blountstown Police Department, Inv. Mark Mallory of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, and Inv. Steve Mears of the State Attorney’s Office.

Just before 4 p.m. Friday, Inv. Tim Partridge of the Blountstown Police Department received a tip that Timothy Eugene Bontrager, 47, would be traveling to the area of 11th Street in Blountstown from SR 71 North with methamphetamine or chemicals to manufacture the drug.
Inv. Mark Mallory of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office joined Inv. Partridge, along with BPD Chief Glenn Kimbrel and Ofc. Patrick Crawford in the 11th Street and Hwy. 71 area to watch for the vehicle. Approximately 20 minutes later, they spotted the suspect’s truck approaching and initiated a traffic stop on 11th Street. Inv. Mallory and Ofc. Crawford approached and smelled burnt marijuana emitting from the truck. Bontrager consented to a search of his person which turned up four and a half Xanax pills in his front pants pocket for which he said he did not have a prescription.
Bontrager gave permission to search his vehicle and investigators discovered a small plastic container of meth, a set of digital scales and razor blades, along with a prescription bottle and an eye dropper that both off gassed when opened, appearing to contain acid. A bottle of rubbing alcohol was also found.
Bontrager was charged with possession of Xanax and methamphetamine.

The Blountstown Police Department caught up with a suspect last Wednesday who was wanted on a warrant for sale of a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a public school, along with possession with intent to sell.
Arrested was Quinton Lemark Peterson who was booked into the Calhoun County Jail.
According to the BPD, the case began on July 24 when Inv. Timothy Partridge met with a confidential informant and arranged a controlled purchase of crack cocaine from Peterson. The informant turned onto Lockwood Avenue where Peterson allegedly walked up to the drivers side window and sold the informant $40 worth of crack cocaine. The entire transaction was captured on videotape and a warrant was issued for Peterson’s arrest.

Three Alabama residents landed in the Calhoun County Jail Friday night after a routine traffic stop turned up drugs.
Lisa Gail Harrison, 39, was charged with possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and driving while her license was suspended or revoked. Candace Smith, 21, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia. Patrick Sims, 18, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (anabolic steroids) and less than 20 grams of marijuana. All three are from Opelika.
According to the BPD, Ofc. Patrick Crawford pulled the suspects over on West Central Avenue for speeding and having a busted windshield. Harrison, who was behind the wheel, was found to have a suspended license for failure to pay traffic tickets. She appeared nervous and, upon request, agreed to a vehicle search.
Smith, who was the rear passenger, stated there was some “weed” somewhere in the vehicle. The front passenger, Sims, said the marijuana could be found under the radio. Sims surrendered a Mentos container filled with 259 pink pentagon pills with LSP engraved on one side and advised they were steroids. A burnt marijuana cigarette and two iodine pills were found in his backpack.
Inside Smith’s purse, Ofc. Crawford found a small bag with approximately .6 grams of meth, two used syringes, two spoons with white powder residue, a glass smoking pipe, several small plastic bags, and five Loratabs.
Other contraband found in the vehicle included a set of digital scales, several straws, Coleman fuel, Ronsonol lighter fluid, cotton swabs, and a bottle of peroxide.
