Calhoun County schools have announced open house dates for the upcoming school year. They are as follows:
Blountstown High School - Thursday, Aug. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Blountstown Middle School - Friday, Aug. 10, from 8 to 11 a.m.
Blountstown Elementary School - Friday, Aug. 10, from 8 to 11:30 a.m.
Altha School - Thursday, Aug. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Carr School - Friday, Aug. 10, from 8 to 11:30 a.m.
Family Affair
is August 4,
Civic Center
The Calhoun County Children’s Coalition will host the annual Family Affair Saturday, August 4, from 8 to 11 a.m. at the W.T. Neal Civic Center in Blountstown.
The event features free school supplies and booths from area agencies with a wealth of information for families. To reserve a booth, call Tammy Hansford at 643-2415, ext. 244.

Holiday set
for Aug. 3-5
Looking for back-to-school savings? The 2012 Sales Tax Holiday has been set for Aug. 3-5 in Florida.
During this period, no Florida sales tax or local option tax will be collected on sales of clothing, footwear, and certain accessories selling for $75 or less per item, or on certain school supplies selling for $15 or less per item.
