No more turning lane at the corner of Charlie Johns Street and West Central/State Road 20. The Blountstown City Council has voted to return to the original street design with two, wider lanes.
“Buses and big trucks have trouble getting in the lanes,” says Blountstown Police Chief Rodney Smith, noting the extra width from removing the turning lane will help.
The Council is asking the Dept. of Transportation to conduct a traffic count for a redlight at this location, as well as the corner of Charlie Johns and 71.
In addition, left turns are no longer allowed at the “Y” at South Main and SR 71. The turn results in a complete 180 and is dangerous on the busy curve.
