A 21-year-old Bristol man was taken into custody April 2 for allegedly raping and beating his girlfriend.
Sidney Beckwith, Jr. has been charged with sexual battery and battery.
According to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, Beckwith is accused of raping his girlfriend three times from the afternoon of March 8 to the early morning hours of March 9 after she refused to have sex with him. One of the alleged assaults occurred after the woman received a text message from another guy, reportedly enraging Beckwith.
During an interview with investigators, Beckwith was confronted with text messages he sent the woman apologizing for hitting her multiple times and forcing himself on her. He admitted to drinking eight beers that day and making poor decisions when he drinks.
Beckwith was released from the Liberty County Jail after posting a $17,500 bond.
