A man screaming and running naked around Camel Lake Campground was arrested in the early morning hours Saturday.
Tyrell J. Cuerrier, 27, has been charged with resisting arrest with violence, criminal mischief and disorderly intoxication.
According to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, Dep. Jonathan Gentry responded to the campground off Hwy. 12 in Bristol around 3:30 a.m.
Cuerrier was allegedly screaming uncontrollably and frightening campers. His girlfriend advised he had eaten some mushrooms earlier in the evening to get high, then began behaving erratically. At one point, he allegedly ripped a handle and plaque off a camper.
Cuerrier fled from Dep. Gentry, running naked through the woods. Dep. Gentry caught up with him, he continued to resist and was blasted with pepper spray, still fighting and kicking. A camper assisted Dep. Gentry until EMS arrived.
Cuerrier was treated at Calhoun-Liberty Hospital, then turned over to the Liberty County Jail. He was released the following day after posting a $500 bond.
