Douglas Lee ‘Woodchopper’ Bottoms, Sr. of Altha, Florida, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012, at the age of 75.
Douglas was born March 15, 1937, in Washington, D.C. to the late Carl and Irene (Vick) Bottoms. He worked on Eglin Air Force Base as a construction worker for many years and moved to Altha from Crestview, Florida in 1979. He was a member of Blountstown Community Church.
He is survived by his wife, Donna, of Altha; sons, Rodney Bottoms of Altha, Douglas Lee Bottoms, Jr. of Hartford, Alabama, and Scott A. Bottoms and his wife, Shelbra, of Altha; a daughter, Donna Tippett, of Prattville, Alabama; three brothers, Johnny Bottoms and his wife, Peggy, Jessie Bottoms and his wife, Erma, and Richard ‘Blue’ Bottoms and his wife, Faye, all of North Carolina; sisters, Dennie Joyner of North Carolina, Dorothy Page and her husband, C. R., of Kentucky, and Bonnie Bottoms of North Carolina; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 3 in the Chapel at Adams Funeral Home with Reverend Dan Yoder and Reverend David Throckmorton officiating. The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
