The Altha Wildcats wrapped up their regular season with a week of two wins and one loss.

The Cats took on Poplar Springs last Monday in Altha, losing 57-66.

Will Rogers led Altha with 24 points. Kent Rogers came in with 14. P.J. Iler added 11. Jacob Warner brought in six. Colby Barrentine and Zac Morris contributed two points a piece.

The J.V. came out on top, edging Poplar Springs, 34-32. Nick Young led with 12.

The Wildcats traveled to Munroe last Tuesday and brought home a 46-31 victory with every player scoring.

Will Rogers was high scorer with 14 points. Kent Rogers and Warner added nine points each. Anthony Young brought in five. Iler and Barrentine had four points a piece. Zac Morris chipped in one.

The J.V. Cats also claimed a win over Munroe, 41-11. Justin Waldorff and Young led Altha with 10 points each.

The final game brought longtime rivals, the Liberty County Bulldogs, to town on senior night. The close game ended with Altha on top, 56-52.

Kent Rogers was high scorer for the Cats with 13 points. Will Rogers and Warner came in with 10 points each. Iler added nine. Morris had eight. Barrentine brought in six.

“Liberty played well, they have really improved, but we had a very vocal home crowd and that helped,” says Coach Warren Roberts. “We hung on to win.”

The J.V. game was also exciting with Altha winning, 30-19. Jay Fielder led with 12. Young came in with nine.

The J.V. Cats finished the season with a 17-7 record. Despite the varsity team beginning the season at 0-6 with some very close games, they pulled out a winning record, finishing at 13-11.

The district tournament is underway this week in Ponce de Leon. Altha was set to take on Sneads Tuesday night (details unavailable at press time). The semi-finals will be held on Friday with the championship game on Saturday night.
