After two recent escapes from the Liberty County Jail, another inmate flew the coop last Wednesday evening.
Daniel M. Brown, 25, has been charged with escape.
According to Col. Brigham Shuler, Brown was doing some cleaning near the front door to the jail facility when a visitor approached the jail. When the door was opened to let the visitor inside, Brown reportedly fled.
Dep. Chad Smith was dispatched just before 7 p.m. to be on the lookout for Brown. Residents of the Spring Street area soon began calling the Sheriff’s Office to report a man in a jail uniform was running toward County Road 12 North. All available units from the Sheriff’s Office began searching the area. A report was soon received by Dep. Smith that Brown was on North Street when he ran into a home and asked for help. After being denied assistance, Brown reportedly fled the house and snatched some clothes from a laundry line behind the home. He allegedly ditched his jail uniform and changed into street clothes.
The search for Brown continued throughout the night. He was eventually located around 12:30 a.m. Thursday hiding behind Tommy Duggar’s Barber Shop on County Road 12 North.
