Several receive prison, jail time

The Calhoun County Courtroom has been busy lately with several receiving sentences handed down by Judge Allen Register.

Here is a breakdown of recent cases that have been handled:

- Anna Marie Hill was sentenced to three years in state prison after pleading no contest to sale of a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a church. She was also sentenced to 18 months in prison to run concurrent with the other sentence on possession of meth and drug paraphernalia charges.

- James Lee Johnson was sentenced to two years in prison on charges of burglary of a structure and grand theft. He will receive credit for 163 days served in jail.

- Richard Eugene Bristow was sentenced to 28.5 months in state prison with credit for 84 days served in county jail. He pled no contest during pre-trial to burglary of a structure, grand theft from a person over 65 and dealing in stolen property.

- Robert Edward Perez was sentenced to 30 months in state prison for violation of probation on aggravated battery with a deadly weapon charges from 2003.

- Joey Eugene Sanders was sentenced to two years in state prison for felony battery and misdemeanor criminal mischief.

- James Edward Lerch was sentenced to 18 months in state prison for violating his probation and community control on driving while license suspended, grand theft, and dealing in stolen property charges.

- Edward Tubbs pled no contest and was sentenced to 17 months in state prison on grand theft charges.

- Bessie Lee West was sentenced to 18 months in state prison, followed by two years probation, on sale of cocaine charges.

- Gerald Williams was sentenced to 28 m months in state prison on possession of meth with intent to deliver charges, as well as principal to sale of meth.

- Shawn Cribb was given credit for 68 days time served on violation of community control charges.

- Amanda Sue Hamlin pled no contest and was sentenced to 18 months of community control with the first six months to be served in jail. She was charged with sale or delivery of a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school and principal to the sale of meth. She received crdit for 83 days served in jail.

- William Shane Black entered a plea of no contest was sentenced during a pre-trial hearing to 11 months and 29 days in the Calhoun County Jail, followed by one year of community control and two years probation, on charges of violation of probation on charges of manufacture of meth and possession of a controlled substance, as well as separate charges of possession of listed chemicals and attempt to manufacture a controlled substance.

- Richard Allen Mayo, Jr. entered a no contest plea and was sentenced to three years probation with the first 11 months, 29 days to be served in the county jail. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

- Charlie Fredrick McClendon pled no contest and was sentenced to one year community control, followed by four years probation, on charges of manufacture and possession of meth.

- Tyler Cameron Pearson pled no contest and was sentenced to five years probation with the first 11 months, 29 days to be served in the county jail. He was charged with sale of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and use of a minor to deliver or sell a controlled substance.

- Lewis David Carson was sentenced during a pre-trial hearing to two years community control and outpatient drug treatment. Charges included possession of meth, less than 20 grams marijuana, and drug paraphernalia, as well as violation of an injunction. In addition, he received two years community control to run concurrently for introduction of contraband into a county detention facility.

- Larico Eric Mathis was sentenced to two years community control for violating his probation on dealing in stolen property charges.
