NEWS ALERT - Woman caught with meth during traffic stop

A Blountstown woman has been arrested on meth charges following a routine traffic stop.
Dana Carmen Chason, 43, was booked into the Calhoun County Jail Sept. 14 for possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while her license was suspended with knowledge. She was also cited for having an expired tag and not wearing a seatbelt.
According to the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office, Sgt. Jared Nichols stopped Chason on Shuman Ferry Road just before 5 p.m. for not having a valid license. He learned her license had been suspended due to insurance cancellation. After placing her in the patrol car, he began taking an inventory of the vehicle and searched her purse. He located a pill container with powder residue that tested positive for meth. Chason stated the meth belonged to someone else who left it at her house. She said she put it in her purse to get it out of her home, admitting that she previously used meth, but had been trying to quit and had not smoked in two months.
