Mr. James Wesley Hamilton, 72, of Marianna, FL, passed away Friday, June 10, 2011, in Panama City, FL.

James was born on May 17, 1939, in Bushnell, FL, and had lived in Marianna for the past five years, coming from Blairsville, GA. James retired from the Department of Corrections with 37 years of service. He served in the National Guard and the United States Navy. He was a member of the Altha First Baptist Church.

James was preceded in death by a son, Jamie Hamilton.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Hamilton, of Marianna; three sons, Jon Hamilton, of Chattahoochee, Michael Hamilton of Marianna, and Craig Waites of Marianna; five daughters, Sammi Johnson and her husband, Greg, of Marianna, Sarah Hamilton of Webster, Missy Root and her husband, Bruce, of Webster, Brenda Dulin and her husband, Kevin, of Colorado Springs, CO, and Kim Sottile and her husband, Frank, of New Hampshire; one brother, Frank Hamilton, of Bushnell, FL; a sister-in-law, Judy Varn, of Grand Ridge; 14 grandchildren including, Hali Smith, Chase Johnson, Megan Dulin, Christopher Dulin, Paige Root and Ian Waites; and several great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, June 15, at 11 am (CDT) at the Altha First Baptist Church in Altha with Reverend Jim McIntosh officiating.

Memorialization will be by cremation.

All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown (ph. 674-2266).
