If you have seen a white SUV missing a right mirror, authorities want to hear from you.
Latrisha Simpson, 21, of Blountstown, says she was walking along Hugh Creek Road May 15 with her 18 month old niece when she was struck by a vehicle.
"The only thing I remember about the truck is it was white or off-white," she tells The County Record. "It looked like an older model Jeep or Explorer...an SUV."
Latrisha says she was just a couple yards from her sister's mailbox when she was hit. "I noticed the vehicle and stepped off the road to the grass," she explains. "I don't know if they were drinking or texting or what." After the vehicle hit her, Latrisha says the driver slowed down for a moment, then sped away.
Latrisha was taken to Calhoun-Liberty Hospital for injuries to her left arm. She was treated, released and referred to a specialist for further care. She had been carrying her niece in her left arm, but, fortunately, "I had just switched her over to the other arm," she states.
After returning from the hospital, Latrisha and her mother spotted the mirror off the SUV on the ground and reported it to authorities at the scene.
Trooper Philip Spaziante of the Florida Highway Patrol is investigating. The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office assisted.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at 850-484-5000 or 1-800-665-2794 or the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office at 674-5049.

Please don't hold back if you have any info. I am depressed and confused about the whole situation. And I would love as much help as I can get to find the person that did this to me. So if you would, be sure to contact the authorities if you know anything.

Thank you,

LaTrisha Simpson
