Carr School eighth graders had plenty to celebrate this week after earning the highest grade in the state on the FCAT writing test.

Carr has 36 eighth graders, instructed by Sue Leonard in writing, and 100 percent of them scored a 4.0 or higher on the FCAT. The highest possible score is a 6.0. Forty-four percent of Carr eighth graders achieved a perfect 6.0 score. Overall, the average score for Carr was 5.2, higher than any other school in Florida.

The state average in eighth grade writing is 4.2 with 82 percent scoring a 4 or above.

Blountstown Middle School eighth graders came in at state average with a 4.2. Altha was slightly below with 4.0.
Fourth graders were also tested in writing. Carr and BES came in with a 4.0 average score, the same as the state average. Altha was below at 3.3.

Tenth graders were the only high school grade tested. The BHS average was 4.1, just above the state average of 4.0. Altha sophomores came in at state average with a 4.0.

More FCAT results will be announced soon.
