After raising money for Settlement, Carr students challenge local schools

The historic Settlement operates on limited resources, bringing in money from fundraisers, donations, and admission fees.

When Carr School students learned about the Settlement’s need, they decided to pitch in. Jeanine Pitts, who volunteers at Carr a few days a week, was talking with her granddaughter, Sarah, about it and they came up with a plan: The Carr Honor Society would ask students to donate a quarter a week. The plan took off and in just a matter of weeks, the students raised $400! They are shown above presenting the check to Willard Smith, founder of the Pioneer Settlement.
