The Blountstown City Council will have some tough decisions to make this month as they continue with their search for a police chief and city manager.
A committee consisting of Mayor Winston Deason, Interim City Manager James Woods, and Johnnie Graham, who reportedly has an extensive background in law enforcement, has been going through over 100 applications for police chief during the month of February. Gene Ryals serves as an alternate on the committee and has also been reviewing the applications. They are expected to turn over their top 10 results at the March 8 City Council meeting. The Council will then begin their own screening process with interviews and background checks to narrow it down to five candidates and then make their final selection.
Friday was the closing date on the city manager position and over 50 applications have been submitted. The names will be released after the applications are presented to the Council at the March 8 meeting.
