The Calhoun-Liberty Ministry Center received the Capital Area Community Action Agency’s 2011 Outstanding Faith Based Partner Award at their Annual Dinner on January 27th.

The Ministry Center was nominated by the local branch Director, Amelia Smith, who stated in her letter that they had helped the Community Action meet and exceed their goals. The nominations were received from the seven counties they service.

In just 14 months, the Calhoun-Liberty Ministry Center has been able to assist more than 3,000 households in Calhoun and Liberty counties with over 100,000 pounds of food and 24,000 articles of clothing. They have also been able to assist 167 clients with financial assistance. The Board of Directors, staff and volunteers believe God has multiplied their efforts to minister to the physical and spiritual needs of the people in these two counties. They look forward to the year ahead as God continues to bless this work.

If you have not come in and looked around, or shopped in the Center’s local thrift store, you are invited to do so. The money generated from the store sales goes back into the Center to buy food, help with financial assistance and pay the operational expenses. You are also encouraged to bring your donations whether they are cash, clothing, or household items. All donations are tax deductible.
