Lt. Col. Ty Edwards was recently honored by the Woodmen of the World at Blountstown High School. FFA members from Carr School participated in the ceremony and were so moved by Lt. Col. Edwards' courage and service, that they wanted to honor him as well.
Throughout the month of September, our school practiced the character trait of responsibility. Staff and students were asked to bring in money for the Wounded Warriors Project in honor of Ty. Ty graduated from Blountstown HIgh School and was injured while serving our country in Afghanistan as a Marine. The money raised will help service men and women like Ty, that have been injured in combat.
We would like to thank everyone for their efforts in this great project. We would also like to thank seventh grader Randi Girardot for helping by placing a collection container at the AmVets Hall Post 231. Veterans gave generously to help our school with this project. A check for $362 was forwarded to the Wounded Warriors Project in Jacksonville, Florida, in honor of Lt. Col. Ty Edwards. His parents, Tommy and Debbie Edwards, were recognized during the last assembly.
