Wow. Three young students in the Blountstown community are awarded scholarships to helpmake this country a better place by furthering their education and ignorant people (white and black) have to make worthless conversation about issues in the past. It maybe just me, but i thnk thats why the community isnt flourishing.

Not only is white a crayola, but it is one of the 133 esential cayolas according to the company web site. However, an interesting fact, in 1963 the company renames the flesh crayon "peach" to recognize that not everyone's skin color is the same. ( if a person were actualy "white" we would think he were ill)
I am sorry I even brought up the whole crayola thing, It seems we all have the same idea, just a differnt way of saying it. I officialy drop the whole crayon thing.

We're not crayolas! We are all Gods children and God is not looking at your skin color. And neither should you be. Let's go forward. Not backward like our ancestors.
And black is made up of many colors. And white is not a color, but a reflection. Learn your crayolas.

If you really believe your convictions ,and stand by them.. Why not state your name ? Alot of things that are happening in Calhoun County Politics, are because people will not stand up and state their name to things that are to the up most importance .

Ah, that was my point, the numbers were turned around last year. I am all for looking past anything but potential, I took Kelly's comments to mean that some folks were being passed up due to race using that one event as evidence, I only ment to point out it was the oppsite last year, negating the evidence given. However, if evey one turned one color all at once, say, Green. The first time someone won something, someone else would say they only got it because they were tall.....humans, we can't help ourselves.

And what exactly would your response have been if the numbers were turned around? I agree with Kelly. Our community is not growing the way it should. It's as if we are stuck behind everyone around us. People around here need to stop seeing color and start seeing potential. The black and white issue was over before I was even born, but around here you would think the was just ended yesturday. GET OVER IT! It is NOT black and white anymore!

WHAT!! Last year two African American kids got scholarships and only one White?????? How can we expect our White kids to succeed if the powers that be won't let them?........sounds silly doesn't it. No where in this country will people progress untill kids/adults/officers/presidents ect are not labeled by black or white or whatever, be an American, period, and stop useing excusses. According to Crayola.......white is a color too.

Bloutstown has continually fallen behind in all aspects of growth in that community. Look around your community and it's not hard to see the vision were the city and county funds are being spent. Our police force does not reflect a community that enhances growth. How many African American are on your police force. How many African American teachers are in your school system. How many African American do you have as elected offficals in your community. If you're not playing sports chances are, you are not capable of receiving an academic scholarship is what the community is saying. The scholarships are not the problem, it's the ones that are making the decisions(presenting)the scholarships. Blountstown, every community has to come together and have a forum on the things that are not right in the community. Need I remind you how some people get put in jail for selling drugs while other do not. Your law enforcement believes that drugs only exist in the African American community and not in the entire community I'm not advocating drugs in no way, I believe if you sell drugs you should be punished for it, for the simply reason drugs not only destroys lifes, it destroys community. If we want a change to occur in Blountstown it has to be done through peaceful forums. It starts with educating yourself about your community, the issues that are important to you as well as your family .
And finally Blountstown, your community can not and will not change unless the individuals that lives in that community changes.

bSchool Board Member Danny Hassig did not get a second to his motion to terminate the lobbyist but he accomplished two other things. First, he put that lobbyist on notice that there's one capable school board member that's raised the issue of expectations and that this matter could be revisited if he doesn't deliver. Second, he directly asked for comments from the other school board members justifying their positions for voters. Not suprisingly, not a single one offered a comment for their constituents. Mr. Hassig did his job. Now it's up to Calhoun County citizens to consider this situation and the actions of their school board members when they go to the polls in the upcoming elections.

I applaud anything positive that takes place in the Blountstown community. As a past resident of Calhoun county(not that long ago im only 2 decades) how about a Recreation building for the children? Which would include tennis,a pool, basketball, and places for family reunions to greet each other. It could also include a mentoring program.I know things like this takes time and money but looking over the years i truly believe that this is something that is needed. You know give the young community some activities to take part in other than violence to keep them out of trouble and to just give them something to do. Coopers Park has had some work done but i propose would make a greater impact
