Mr. Terry S. Mercer, age 50, of Hosford, FL passed away early Sunday morning, June 16, 2013 in Blountstown, FL. Terry was born on January 21, 1963 in Quincy, FL and had lived in Liberty County for most of his life. He was an electrician by trade. Terry was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Thomas Mercer and a grandson, Ethan John-Colt O’Bryan. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Johnnie retired in 1993 as a heavy equipment operator for the State Road Department. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn and Annie (Johnson) Arnold and a sister, Charlotte Potter.

Eva Delores Sewell Weston, 85, of White City, FL, was called Home by her Heavenly Father on Friday, May 31, 2013.
Eva was born on June 15, 1927, in Altha, FL, to John Henry and Mary Baggett Sewell. She was a long-time and faithful member of the First Baptist Church of White City. Eva was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a pillar of strength in her church and the White City community. First and foremost, a wife, mother and homemaker, she was also a retired Gulf County school bus driver.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Randy Weston; and siblings, Blondell, Paul, J.C., Green, Harmon, Jewell, Mizie, Euni, Gracie, Ruby, and Clevie.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Claude R. “Gundy” Weston; three sons, Mike Weston and Cynthia Ellen of Panama City, Greg Weston and Becky of Wewahitchka, Kenny Weston and Barbara of Bristol; a daughter-in-law, Karla Weston, of Port St. Joe; two brothers, William Earl “Buddy” Sewell and Angie of Blountstown, Fate Sewell and Alice of Altha; a sister, Johnnie Maddox of Altha; three sisters-in-law, Marlene Sewell of White City, Robbi Sewell of Greensboro, Barbara Tyre of Altha; and one brother-in-law, Gene Ryals, of Altha. Jimmy was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict serving in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion. He was of the Protestant Faith.

OBITUARY - Ayers
Mr. William Armond (Bill) Ayers, Sr., 85, of Blountstown, FL, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, in Blountstown.
Bill was born on February 6, 1928, in Jackson County and had lived in Calhoun County for most of his life. He was a retired commercial and residential contractor and carpenter. During his many years, Bill constructed hundreds of homes and apartment buildings. He also worked on the Capital Building in Tallahassee, W.T. Neal Civic Center in Blountstown and the Jai Alai building in Chattahoochee. Bill gave numerous young men in our community their first jobs working in construction to earn money and build good character. Bill had a love for farming the land and watching it grow. He was a 1947 graduate of Blountstown High School and was a Veteran of WWII serving in the United States Navy. Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blountstown.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kay Ayers; son, Billy Ayers; brother, Herbert Spencer Ayers; and sister, Katherine Smith.
Survivors include one son, Spencer Ayers, and his wife, Pam, of Blountstown; one daughter, Cynthia Aultman, and her husband, Jimmy, of Blountstown; one brother, James M. Ayers, and his wife, Dot, of Blountstown; three sisters, Jessie Mae Price of Blountstown, Abbye Faurot and her husband, Billy, of Blountstown, and Carolyn Dykes of Morgan City, LA; four grandchildren, Cindy Golden and her husband, Grant, Derek Aultman and his wife, Danielle, Crystal McClellan and her husband, Todd, and Stephen Ayers; nine great-grandchildren, Britt, Lane, Kaylin, Kelsey, Alex, Kaydan, Alicia, Will and Gabe; and two great-great-grandchildren, Mason and Konnor.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 19, at 3:00 pm (CDT) at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplin Ronnie Wright and Carlton Van Lierop officiating. Interment followed in Nettle Ridge Cemetery in Blountstown.

Mary Sewell, 80, of Hosford, Florida, went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 19, 2013.
Mary was born July 26, 1932, in Quincy, Florida, to the late J. D. and Pauline (Chason) Elliott. She was a homemaker and was a member of Mt. Zion United Pentecostal Holiness Church in Hosford.
She is survived by her husband, R. D. Sewell, of Hosford; three sons, Robert Dowdy and wife, Connie, of Hosford, Gregory Lee Sewell of Louisiana, and Michael David Sewell of Hosford; three daughters, Hazel Marie Sewell of Hosford, Linda Carpenter and fiancé, Grant Landrum, of Blountstown and Meagan Sewell of Hosford; grandchildren, Robby Dowdy, Ashley Dowdy, Jonathan Erby, Hunter Carpenter, Hailey Sewell, Gavin Sewell, Eric Sewell, Beau Landrum, Blake Landrum, and Brooklynn Hunt; a brother, James David Elliott, and wife, Frances, of Telogia, Florida; two sisters, Florence Marshall and husband, T. W., of Sopchoppy, Florida and Geneva Powell and husband, Dick, of Belleview, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

Michael was born in Calhoun County and had lived here all of his life. He worked for a while at Mowrey Elevator and was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include one son, Michael Simmons, Jr., of Blountstown; one daughter, Jessica Coppock, and her husband, Timothy, of Clarksville, FL; two brothers, Troy Simmons of Port St. Joe, FL and Bill Simmons of Mississippi; two sisters, Melissa Wittig of Tallahassee, FL and Josephine Williams of Bay County, FL; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 12, at 2:00 pm (CDT) from the graveside at Magnolia Cemetery near Blountstown with Reverend R.L. Phillips officiating. Interment followed.

Ruth Eleanor Mullin, 89, of Blountstown, Florida, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013, in Marianna, Florida.
Ruth was born in Freeport, Illinois, February 21, 1924, to the late Otto Carl and Clara (Buck) Ketelhut. She served in the United States Navy during World War II and later retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company where she worked as a long distant operator. Ruth was a born again Christian who dedicated her life to helping others and telling them about Jesus. She was a member of Travelers Rest Free Will Baptist Church in Clarksville, Florida, where she taught Sunday School, helped in prison ministry, and also was a volunteer at the Panhandle Pioneer Settlement.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold and Carl; and sisters, Gertrude, Pauline, Helen and Dorothy.
Survivors include two sons, Patrick Mullin of Blountstown and Timothy Mullin of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; a daughter, Charolette Januse, of Altha, Florida; two grandchildren; and a brother, Roger Ketelhut, of Wanawa, Wisconsin.
Ruth was not just a mother, but also a friend to her children and will be missed more than any words could ever express.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 11, at Travelers Rest Free Will Baptist Church with Dr. Shawn Williams officiating. Interment followed in Travelers Rest Cemetery with full military honors.
