Mrs. Dollie Bell Sutton Manning Dawson, 86, of Blountstown, FL, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013, in Tallahassee, FL.
Dollie was born on August 17, 1926, in Holmes County, FL, and had lived in Blountstown for most of her life. She was a retired restaurant cook and was a member of the Holiness Faith.
Dollie was preceded in death by her husbands, John Henry Manning and Lawrence Dawson; son, Charles Ray Dawson; sisters, Charlie Etta, May Nell and Rossie.
Survivors include two daughters, Johnnie Dawson and June Uhrick, both of Blountstown; one brother, William Sutton and his wife, Gloria, of Virginia Beach, VA; one sister, Jeannie Wright, and her husband, Ken, of Michigan; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February, 9, at 11:00 am (CST) from the graveside at Pine Memorial Cemetery in Blountstown with Reverend Dwayne Tolbert officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends Friday, February, 8, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm (CST) at Peavy Funeral Home. Mrs. Nellie Guy, 82, of Altha, FL, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013, in Tallahassee, FL.
Nellie was born on November 16, 1930, in Altha, and had lived in Calhoun County all of her life. She was a retired lunchroom lady with the Calhoun County School System with over 20 years of service. Nellie will be remembered by the thousands of children she served lunches to at all the Calhoun County lunchrooms. Nellie was a member of Sunny Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church in Altha.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Guy; son, Wayne Guy; grandson, Ralph Yoder, Jr.; and brother, James W. O’Bryan.
Survivors include her son, Travis Earl Guy, and his wife, Arletha, of Mt. View, CA; two daughters, Bonnie Pitts and her husband, Marion, of Altha, and Charlotte Grimes and her husband, Phillip, of Blountstown; sister-in-Law, Billie M. Hollis J. Fleeman, 83, of Clarksville, Florida, was born September 12, 1929, and went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 26, 2013.
Mr. Fleeman served in the United States Air Force from 1947 to 1965 and was of the Baptist Faith.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Hollis Benjamin and Pearly Mae (Marr) Fleeman, and a sister, Betty Matthews.
Hollis was a loving husband and father. He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Katherine Walters Fleeman; daughters, Patty Fleeman, Karen Bryant and her husband, Belvin, and Becky Shuler, all of Clarksville, Donna Golden and her husband, Jerry, of Bremen, Georgia; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; a brother, Randall Fleeman, of Kennesaw, Georgia, and a sister, Doris Barrett, of Acworth, Georgia.

Robert Allen Smith, 70, passed away at his home in Blountstown, Florida, on Wednesday, January 23, 2013.
Robert was born in Blountstown on October 29, 1942, and graduated from Blountstown High School. He worked as a carpenter for many years before going to work for Blountstown Supply where he worked for 15 years. Later, Robert went to work at Tatum’s Hardware where he worked until the time of his illness. He was an active member of Rivertown Community Church. His passion was God’s word and sharing it with others. He spent 31 years teaching Bible study classes at area prisons, leading Sunday school classes and small groups. He was a loving husband and a fun-loving father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Beneva Smith, and two infant grandchildren, Rocky Justice and Clara Dawn Phinney.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years, Clara Smith, and their children, Pauline Schrock and husband, Duane, of Fairhope, Alabama, Paul Smith and wife, Melody, of Blountstown, Florida, Pamela Detweiler and husband, Philip, of Blountstown, and April Phinney and husband, Tony, also of Blountstown; grandchildren, Matthew, Jennifer, and Zachary Schrock, Noelle, Cameron, and Karis Smith, Katie, Karissa, and Caleb Detweiler, and Brett and Jacob Phinney.

OBITUARY - Bussey
Ben Bussey, a depression era child, was born on January 4, 1926, in Jacksonville, Florida, and was raised in St. Mary, Georgia.
He began working at the age of 9 as a school janitor for $8 a month, and then contracted to run the school furnaces. When his family moved to Waycross, Georgia, he had a paper route until he entered the Navy at the age of 17. As a member of “The Greatest Generation,” he served in the United States Navy during WW II as a radioman first class on a light aircraft carrier, the USS Monterey, and a destroyer escort, the USS John M. Bermingham.
As A WW II veteran, Ben attended FSU on the GI Bill and lived in the Dale Mabry barracks and earned a Bachelor of Science degree. While attending FSU, he met Violet Bateman of Bristol, Florida, whom he married in 1949. This 46-year marriage was blessed with four sons: Charles (Stephanie) of Mobile, Alabama; Karl of Houston, Texas, Wayne (deceased); and Paul (deceased). Violet and Ben had three grandchildren: Neal Bussey, Ross Bussey, and Tara Bussey Jennings (Joshua); and two great-grandchildren, Joshua Wilson and Kayleighanna Jennings.
Ben loved motorcycles, watching golf, and fishing on the Tom Bigbee River. In the fall, Saturdays were dedicated to FSU football, and in the summer, to the Atlanta Braves. His passion was following the stock market.
Ben worked as an accountant and retired from the State of Alabama after working as an administrator in the state hospital system. Upon his retirement in 1980, he and Violet relocated to Calhoun County where he was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Blountstown, serving as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher and choir member. He was a founding member of the Grumpy Old Men’s Club, a community service group dedicated to service of the elderly. He was a Lions Club officer and member for many years.
Violet passed away unexpectedly in 1994. In February 1995, he married Shirley Johnson Stone. Through this marriage he gained three step-daughters: Janice Kirkland (Dennis), Patsy Parker (Joe), and Linda Arrant (Steve); and became Papa Ben to six step-grandchildren and sixteen step-great-grandchildren.
In his twilight years, Ben enjoyed smoking a pipe, spoiling Sassy cat and eating Babe’s (Shirley) cooking.
The family wishes to express gratitude to family friend Darryl Taylor for his faithful visiting.
At his home on Sunday, January 13, Ben returned to his Heavenly Father.
Services will be held Tuesday, January 15, at 10 a.m. CST at Peavy Funeral Home and interment will follow at the Lake Mystic Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Peavy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Convenant Hospice.

Bob had worked for Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, American Automobile Association, American Telephone and Telegraph, and Chrysler Corporation through the years and retired from Florida Department of Education as a computer analyst. He was a member of Jr. Chamber of Commerce in Clayton County, Georgia, American Red Cross in Tallahassee, and was active with the Wounded Warrior Program and Olympic Committee. He attended Immanuel Baptist Church in Tallahassee.
Preceding him in death were his parents, James A. and Martha Ethel (Jones) Gavin; a brother, Gerald Gavin; and a nephew, Jim Gavin.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Gavin; a son, George Gavin; and his mother-in-law, Reba Shields, all of Blountstown; sisters-in-law, Alice Gavin of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Rita Maupin of Blountstown; a nephew, Jamie Maupin, and his wife, Nanci, of Lynn Haven, Florida; a niece, Mary Saxer, and her husband, Tim, of Spencerville, Indiana; a great-niece, Elizabeth Maupin and great-nephew, John Maupin.

OBITUARY - Peacock
Charles Franklin Peacock, 98, of Panama City, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2013.
Mr. Peacock was born December 8, 1914, to the late James Pearson and Georgia Hagan Peacock in Altha, FL. In his earlier years, Charles was a surveyor and taught agriculture with the Calhoun County Extension Agency. He began working as a mechanic at Standard Oil Company in Panama City from 1950 until retirement. Following retirement, he enjoyed welding for a local construction company traveling around the southeast. He was a farmer at heart that showed through in his love for gardening. Mr. Peacock was gifted musically. He wrote songs, played the guitar and the harmonica. He was a member of the Sink Creek Masonic Lodge. Charles was a charter member of Midway Baptist Church in Panama City and later attended Cypress Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Kinard, FL.
Mr. Peacock is survived by his beloved wife of 75 years, Pera Lee Peacock; two sons, Charles S. "Stony" Peacock and wife, Sue Ann, Robert B. Peacock and wife, Kathy; four daughters, Charlotte Davis and husband, Jerrell, Carolyn Prows and husband, Rudolph, Pauline Morgan and husband, Buddy, Roberta Janas and husband, Bob; 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

Survivors include two sons, Mark Crellin of Blountstown and Roger Merwin; one daughter, Dede Brown, and her husband, Allen, of Blountstown; one brother, Gene Merwin, of Washington; eight grandchildren, Harry Brown and his wife, Rebecca, Steve Brown, Christopher Brown, Tyler Owens, Breanna Crellin, Amaya Petrantis, Justin Merwin and Lillie Brown.

Margaret was born on December 5, 1944, in Hot Springs, SD and had lived in Blountstown for the past 26 years, coming from Tampa. She was a retired CNA from River Valley Health and Rehab Center, formerly Parthenon Health and Rehab Center.

Thomas Reid Crawford, 24, of Lynn Haven died Wednesday, January 2, 2013.
Reid was born November 3, 1988 in Dothan, AL. He grew up in Malone, FL, where he attended Malone Public School and then graduated from Marianna High School in 2007. Reid attended Chipola and Gulf Coast Community Colleges. He had a passion for the outdoors and loved being on the Chipola River.
Reid is survived by his mother, Beverly Crawford, of Lynn Haven; his father, James Crawford, and wife, Renee Attaway Crawford, of Altha; brothers, Ryan Crawford and Taylor Crawford, of Panama City; step sisters, Alexx Miles of Altha and Amanda Stripling of Crawfordville; and stepbrother, Michael Stripling, and his wife, Courtney, of Vilseck, Germany; beloved dog, Bentley; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 5, at Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Shelly Chandler officiating.
