Blountstown Middle School Cheerleaders participated in a cheer camp at the JAGS gym in Blountstown June 24-26. The owner, Michaeline Sheffield, and staff member, Bianca Hernandez, taught the girls many chants, cheer, routines, and stunts during the camp.

Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Walter Lee “Buddy” Money, Jr. to serve as Liberty County Sheriff on an interim basis.
Money, 57, has served as the victim’s advocate with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office since 2008. Previously, Money served with the Coral Gables Police Department from 1983-2005. Money serves on various community boards including the Liberty County Senior Citizens Boards, the Liberty County Children’s Coalition, and the Bristol Youth Academy Community Board.
Governor Scott said, “Buddy is a seasoned and effective law enforcement officer and I am confident that he will serve the families of Liberty County with honor and distinction during this interim term.”
Money temporarily replaces the suspended Liberty County Sheriff. He is appointed for a term beginning July 5, 2013.
Mrs. Ouida Delores Carter-Evans, 62, of Panama City, FL, entered into rest Tuesday, June 25, 2013, in Panama City.
Ouida was born on April 9, 1951, in Tokyo, Japan, and had lived in Panama City since 1999, coming from Wewahitchka, FL. She was a medical billing specialist and was a 1969 graduate of Blountstown High School. Ouida was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 392 in Panama City. She was a member of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paris and Mary Carter.
Survivors include her husband, Phillip Steven Evans, of Panama City; one son, James Larry Hensley, of Monticello, FL; ne daughter, Janet Grimes of Tallahassee, FL; two brothers, Roger Carter and his wife, Lisa, of Panama City, and Larry Carter of Wewahitchka; two sisters, Helen McCowen and her husband, Bill, of Navarre, FL, and Mary Ann Williams and her husband, Tommy, of Blountstown; three grandchildren, James (Jamie) Hensley, Jr., Michael Hensley and Tyler Hensley; one aunt, June Montford, of Selma, CA; four nieces, four nephews and numerous cousins; and her loving Boston Terrier, Espn-Nole.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 29, at 11:00 am (CDT) at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Patrick Moore officiating. Memorialization will be by cremation. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 29, from 10:00 am until service time at 11:00 am (CDT) at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel.

Michael Lee Creek, Sr. of Carrabelle, Florida, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at the age of 63.
Michael worked as a newspaper deliverer and was a truck driver for construction debris cleanup. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam conflict. Michael was of the protestant faith.
He was preceded in death by his dad, William Wendell Creek.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl (Yelvington) Creek, of Carrabelle; son, Michael L. Creek, Jr., and fiancée, Kim Norman, of Monticello, Florida; a daughter, Michelle Thomas, and husband, Jody, of Hackberry, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Brandon L. Creek, Kerstin R. Creek, Brittany M. Thomas, Bashby D. Thomas, and Joseph N. Thomas; his mother, Mildred Creek Stacy, of Washington Courthouse, Ohio; a brother, Bill Creek, and wife, Shirley, of Sabrina, Ohio; a sister, Drue Reveal, and husband, Jr., of Aberdeen, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. ET, Saturday, June 29, at First Baptist Church in Carrabelle with Reverend Rick Steward officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service (10:00-11:00 a.m.ET) at the church.

Sarah Catherine Kearce Young, age 65, of Panama City, passed away on June 25, 2013, at Bay Medical Center Sacred Heart.
She was born May 1, 1948, in Blountstown, Florida, to E.Z. and Kitty Kearce. She was a graduate of Florida State University. She had been a resident of Bay County since 1968. She was a member of Emerald Coast Fellowship Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. Robert L. Young; and brother, Gary Kearce.
She is survived by her daughter, Shonna Young Gay, and husband, Keith, of Panama City, and their two daughters, Sterling Nichole Gay and Sydney Lynn Gay; step-daughter, Karen Young Garrison, and husband, Bobby, of South Carolina and their daughter, Sy Garrison; step-son, David “Skip” Young, and wife, Jane, of Minnesota and their son, Drew; step-son, Roger Young, and wife, Cindy, of Sarasota, Florida, and their children, Nathan, Adam and Dylan Young; sister, Betty Ann Montford, and husband, Charlie, of Pensacola, Florida, and their children, Bryan, Darren, Sandra and Andrea; and brother, E.Z. Kearce, Jr., and wife, Charla, of Bristol, Florida, and their daughter, Kara.
A celebration of life service will be conducted on Friday, June 28, at 2 p.m. at Emerald Coast Fellowship Church with Dr. Steve Taylor officiating. Pallbearers will be Kevin Gay, Bryan Montford, Darren Montford, Allen Roberts, Will Therrien, and Mike Thomas. Interment will follow in the Nettle Ridge Cemetery in Blountstown.
