Mr. John W. (Pete) Baggett, age 89, of Altha, FL and a former resident of Jackson County passed away Monday night, May 1, 2012 in Marianna, FL. Pete was born on February 10, 1923 in Altha and had lived in Jackson County for several years. He was a retired Cattle Farm manager and worked with the State of Florida as a mechanic for a number of years. Pete was a member of Cypress Grove Assembly of God Church in the Dellwood Community in Jackson County.

Mrs. Patricia Ann Hooks, age 69, of Blountstown, FL passed away Monday, April 30, 2012 at her home. Patricia was born on February 1, 1943 in Blountstown, FL and had lived in Blountstown for most of her life. She was retired from the Florida State Hospital with over 20 years of service as a UTC Specialist. Patricia was of the Baptist Faith.

Nick Finch has filed his intent to run for Liberty County sheriff. He is running with no party affiliation. Finch will face the winner of the democratic primary between Henry Hamlin and incumbent Donnie Conyers.
Thomas Flowers has filed his intent to run for Calhoun County Commissioner in district 5. He will face incumbent Harold Pickron in the democratic primary Aug. 14. The winner will go up against Charles "Chic" Wood (NPA) in the general election Nov. 6.
Brooks Conway Breslin and her beloved dog, Dixie, passed away April 29, 2012.
Brooks was born on September 10, 1986, in Tallahassee, FL. She received her GED from the Leon County School System and attended and received a certificate in Forestry from Lake City Community College. Brooks inherited a strong love of forestry from her Papa Hayes and always loved being in the great outdoors. She loved the family camp on the Chipola River and the family condo on the Gulf. Friends will easily remember Brooks by her quick wit, her contagious laughter and everlasting loyalty.
She is survived by her mother, Nancy Hayes Breslin; her sister, Elizabeth; her uncle and aunt, Burke and Eva Hayes; her aunt and uncle, Brooks Anne and Kenny Meierdierks; her uncle and aunt, George and Cindy Breslin. She is also survived by her cousins, Brooks and Katie Hayes, Marianne and Philip McMillan, Charlie and Annie Meierdierks.
Brooks was preceded in death by her father, Pete Breslin, her maternal grandparents, Brooks and Nan Hayes and her paternal grandparents, George and Alma Breslin.
A celebration of Brooks’ life will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012 at Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church, 1700 N. Meridian Road, Tallahassee, FL 32303. Interment will follow at Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park on Timberlane Road. Family will receive friends following the burial in the MeadowWood Room of the funeral home.
