Mrs. Lilly Kamerling Schmarje, 86, of Bristol, FL, passed away Thursday May 13, 2010 at her home in Bristol.
Lilly was born on March 20, 1924, in Amsderdam, Holland. She moved to Bristol at the age of 25 where she has lived the remainder of her life. Lillie was of the Lutheran faith. She was a Holocaust Survivor, and was a Practical Nurse in Amsterdam. Lilly became an American citizen, a wife, a mother and an American farmer when she arrived in the United States.
Lillie was preceded in death by her husband, John Schmarje; her parents, Jan Willem and Anna Kamerling; brother, William Kamerling; two grandchildren John and Jarred Schmarje; and a cousin, Peter Pronk.
Survivors include two sons, John Henry Schmarje and his wife, Jannie, of Blountstown, FL, and Jeffrey Schmarje and his wife, Cathia, of Bristol; six grandchildren, Jannessa Edwards and her husband, Kenneth, of Blountstown, Tina Schmarje of Panama City, FL, William Jeffery Matthias Schmarje of Blountstown, Jerica Hall and her husband, Drew, of Altha, FL, Jenipher (Ferdie) Schmarje of Tallahassee, FL, Lilly Jolene Schmarje of Bristol; two great-grandchildren, Riley and Audrey Edwards, of Blountstown; a nephew, Charlie Kamerling of Prattville, AL; a niece, Lilly Kamerling Powers, of CA; two great nieces of CA; and one cousin, Rina Pronk, of Bristol.
Graveside services were held Friday, May 14, at 10 am (EDT) from the graveside at Big Oaks Cemetery in Bristol with Ferrell Wahlquist officiating. Interment followed.
